When I woke up this morning, Ed told me we were going to escape today.
But he says that everyday; because Ed is crazy and so am I. Ed is my roommate
at the psychiatric hospital where I live. The nurses told me that when Ed was
born, a part of his brain was shut down or was not functioning. This causes him
to behave erratically to the point where he was a danger to himself and those
around him. He would occasionally try to jump through windows and attack the
nurses because he thought they were trying to kill him.
Everyone here has something wrong with them, like Dora, who always runs
into walls because she thinks that there are hornets in her brain. Everyone belongs
here except for me. I was normal once; at least until He started talking to me.
I donÕt have a name for Him because He is a part of me. My therapist says that
I have a combination of schizophrenia and bi-polar syndrome, a Òdouble whammyÓ
